Pro Tips

This plant enjoys regular misting and does not like being near drafts, heaters, or AC units. The soil should remain moist, but not soggy, so check that the top layer is dry before watering again. Avoid burning its leaves in direct sun. An Alocasia's soil can be allowed to dry more in winter, as they often go dormant in colder months. Keep leaves clean and dust-free to prevent pests.

Origin

A mysterious plant and not a lot is known about it. Native to Southeast Asia, it grows in the tropical jungles of Borneo. Alocasia are happiest under the canopies of larger leafed plants and trees and thus is used to indirect light levels and high humidity. Alocasias grow foliage from tuberous root systems, and store a lot of energy under the soil.
