care advice
The Calathea Roseopicta, also known as the Rose Painted Calathea, displays striking pinks and greens on a round shaped leaf with purple undersides. Like all Calathea, it opens and closes every day with the sun. Attentive growers can expect this rosy beauty to reach up to two feet tall.

Grows best in medium to bright indirect light - Avoid direct sun

Keep evenly moist, water when top 1-2 inches are dry - Do not allow to fully dry out - Loves purified water & high humidity

Air Purifying - Absorbs pollutants

Pet Friendly - Nontoxic

Sits 12-18" tall by 9-14" wide In a 6" grow pot
Pro Tips
Calatheas love humidity, so mist them occasionally or leave them in a tray of pebbles and water. Keep away from AC and heat drafts. Another sign to look for when thirsty is closed leaves during the daytime. To ensure glossy new growth, allow plant water to sit out overnight, or use pruified water. Calathea have different metabolisms from other plants, and aren't able to handle all the chemicals typically found in tap water.
Origin
Native to South America and a member of the Marantaceae family, which includes the Arrowroot plant. These plants grow under the shade of larger canopied plants in the rainforest. Also known as "Prayer Plants", the leaves spread out during the day to maximise sunlight, and then retract at night.
